As a Boise native, AND a fifth generation Idaho native, I agree with you, other than how all natives treat others as "outsiders"...I've never done that. My thoughts have always been that if a city isn't growing, it's dying...so, I've always thought new blood was good...BUT, everything else, I agree with. This is an AWFUL place to be a working woman...and IF you're a single Mom, working woman, Boise employers will clearly make you decide to either be an employee or a mother. We also have extremely low wages here, and skyrocketing housing costs...and our government isn't willing to change a thing. Many other cities across the country started adopting a higher minimum wage when the housing started to skyrocket...not Boise...I know many people that are stuffing 2 families into a one family house, JUST so they have a roof over their heads, they can no longer afford a place of their own...and the homeless population is also raising like crazy, because of extreme low wages, and out of control housing prices. I have heard that Idaho is "The South of the North", This pandemic has highlighted that SO clearly. Lack of education, lack of common sense, not believing in science, and the thought that wearing a mask to protect your community is somehow a lack of personal freedom. I have never been more appalled and embarrassed to be a resident in Boise Idaho...these people now are petty, sexist, self serving, and many are down right senseless...
